Privacy & Data

Kantrad stores all DICOM images, patient data, and reports locally in a SQLite database on your computer. No data is transmitted to external servers unless you explicitly configure AI or PACS connections.

AI Features

If you configure an AI provider (Ollama, Gemini, OpenAI, or custom), image data and report text may be sent to that server. For local AI (Ollama), the server runs on your own hardware. For cloud providers, data is subject to their privacy policies. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with your institution's data governance policies.

No Telemetry

Kantrad does not collect usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry. The application makes no network connections unless you explicitly configure external services.

HIPAA & Compliance

Kantrad includes audit logging for HIPAA workflows. However, full compliance depends on your environment — including device encryption, physical security, and institutional policies.

Not a medical device. Kantrad is not FDA, CE, or equivalent certified. It must not be used as the sole basis for clinical diagnosis. AI suggestions require verification by a qualified radiologist.

Installation

macOS: Open the .dmg, drag Kantrad to Applications. On first launch, right-click → Open to bypass Gatekeeper.

Windows: Run the .msi installer. If SmartScreen warns, click "More info" → "Run anyway".

Linux: Make the AppImage executable: chmod +x kantrad.AppImage && ./kantrad.AppImage
